The 1st is a short par three, with bunkers protecting the green from errant shots short and on both sides.
Pro's TipThe safer shot is to a banked backstop, but this will leave a tricky putt or chip down the green.

This long par four has a generous landing area, however for longer hitters the bunker at around 270 yards from the tee can pose an issue from the tee.
Pro's TipWith the fairway sloping from left to right, the bunker seems to attract your ball. The left side of the fairway will leave the best approach to a small green guarded by a bunker short right.

A tricky par three up a slope to a MacKenzie green. Four bunkers surround the front half of the green will catch the wayward tee shot.
Pro's TipHole location will play a significant part in club selection. The easier hole location is on the top tier; if the flag is on the lower tier do not go long as this will leave a difficult putt down the slope.

The shortest par 4 four on the course, but not the easiest. Largely tree lined and with out of bounds running along the left side of the hole from tee to green.
Pro's TipThe ideal line from the tee is at the gable end of the greenkeeper's facility. The second shot is played to a long narrow green.

Played from the back tee you are faced with a narrow funnel to the fairway. Generally played into the prevailing wind this is a tough par four.
Pro's TipThe fairway bunker will only come into play for the longest hitters; indeed it may cause problems for some second shots . Be sure to check the wind direction from the tree tops when clubbing your approach shot. From the fairway the green looks quite flat, but at closer quarters a generally right to left slope hides some subtle

A relatively short par five on longer hitters would expect to pick up a shot. With the fairway sloping from left to right, you should aim your tee shot down the left hand side but beware of the bunker which lies in wait for the shot which stays left.
Pro's TipIf you are going for the green in two, be sure to choose the right club, as there is a water hazard twenty yards short of the relatively small putting. Too long and you will be faced with a tricky chip back to a downward sloping, elevated green.

A tricky par three to a small sloping green. Choosing the correct club can be an issue as the tee is surrounded by tree, sheltering you from the prevailing left to right wind. Bunkers short left and right await the mishit shot.
Pro's TipBeware of hitting the ball too long, as out of bounds is only 10 yards from the back edge of the green.

An elevated tee makes this a lovely driving hole, which requires a long and straight shot from the tee. Bunkers narrow the fairway to 10 yards at around 290, so longer hitters may chose something less than driver.
Pro's TipBunkers on the left and right guard the front of the green which slopes front right to back left.

A relatively short par 3, with no bunkers, but no pushover. Missing the green left or right will leave a tricky chip. Do not over club as the out of bounds fence is only 10 yards over the back of the green.
Pro's TipThe ideal tee shot will leave you below the hole and the front to back sloping green is rarely negotiated easily.

Playing uphill and usually into the prevailing wind this par five is for many a genuine three-shotter.
Pro's TipA straight shot from the tee is required, as out of bounds runs along the length of the hole on the left side, with trees running along the right side. The second shot will leave a shot between sixty and a hundred yards. Your approach shot should be left below the flag on a green which slopes from back to front.

Playing from an elevated tee and with one of our most generous fairways you should pick a land mark on the hill in the far background to aim your tee shot. The second is played to a relatively flat green with a bunker on the right hand side.
Pro's TipWith no hazard short of the green many choose to run the ball onto the green. An overhit approach shot will disappear down a bank leaving a difficult chip from below the green.

The longest par 3 on the course at over 200 yards. Played from an elevated tee, with bunkers thirty yards short and one at each side of the entrance to the green.
Pro's TipMost players will land short of the green allowing the down slope short of the green it to run on. The green is one of the more undulating on the course sloping from front to back.

Played from an elevated tee this hole provides a panoramic view of Halifax, with Emley Moor in the far distance. On a clear day the three power stations of Ferry Bridge, Eggborough and Drax can be seen.
Pro's TipOut of bounds runs along the length of the hole on the right hand side. An inviting approach shot down to the to the flattest green on the course awaits a well positioned tee shot.

Possibly the hardest hole on the course, this brute plays in the opposite direction to the seventeenth. The tee shot is played to a plateau fairway with out of bounds running down the right hand side.
Pro's TipFor many reaching the green in two can be only achieved in favourable conditions as the prevailing wind is against. Your work is not finished once you reach the MacKenzie green, which has two very distinctive characters, the bottom half is undulating with the top half a little flatter.
